Andy Kinder with part of his winning catch17.05.2012

Saturday 12th May was Day 1 of the Marukyu Festival at Mallory Park Fisheries at prolific Leicestershire venue The Glebe. This was an individual and a two-day pairs event.
A cold northerly wind prevailed and as expected it was tough going as the fishery had been closed for 6 weeks and resident fish had not seen anglers’ baits during that period. However, there were still many exceptional weights.
Top weight for Saturday was Andy Boffin, a Derbyshire Marukyu Pro Team member, who weighed an impressive 137lb from Glebe Pool 1. Andy’s fish were caught on a variety of methods using Marukyu EFG 131 as the main feed groundbait with JPZ and Krilled maggots taking most of his catch.
Second highest weight was from Oakham’s Gordon Parker (Marukyu Pro Team) pegged on Glebe pool 5 with 114lb. In third was Andy Williams from Derby (Marukyu Pro Team) with 109lb.
4th Jamie Adcock Hinckley (Marukyu Pro Team) with 102lb
5th Andy Kinder (Marukyu Pro Team) with 91lb

Day 1: Top pairs with 2 points were Andy Boffin and Andy Williams.

Day 2:
The wind had changed direction to a milder westerly and, as predicted, the fishing was brilliant. The 15 anglers pegged on Glebe Pool 1 averaged over 100lb per man.

Top individual was Sheffield’s Andy Kinder (Marukyu Pro Team) who feeder fished Glebe Pool 5 and weighed just under a double-ton with 199lb 8oz using Marukyu EFG 131 groundbait and dead Krilled maggots on the hook. In second spot was Nottingham’s Kev Russell (Marukyu Pro Team) with another big bag on 186lb.

3rd Chris Allen           178lb
4th Dominic Lanni 167lb
5th Jamie Adcock    144lb
(All Marukyu Pro Team)

It was down to a nail-biting weight count back for the winning pairs event with Chris Downs and Chris Allen just taking top prize from Andy Kinder and Gaz Woods as both teams tied on 7 points. Chris Downs/ Chris Allen 535lb beating Andy Kinder / Gaz Woods 449lb.

Mild weather means more fish

At last some mild weather and some outstanding catches.
There are so many brilliant results this is just a snapshot from around the country.
Ever in form Pro Team Member Jamie Masson won again mid-week at Little Johns with 53lbs. The interesting story is he said he did not draw well and was struggling badly.
EFG 130 to the rescue fed in a kinder pot turned the swim alive and the rest was history. Second place managed just 23lbs – a full 30lbs behind Jamie!
John Hall decimated Makins mid week event again with another 100lb plus, his mate was second with 80lbs, both used 8mm protein pellets.
John has averaged almost 100lbs in the last five matches - all on Marukyu protein pellets.
Our more southern field testers have been doing very well; Martin Smith’s Raiders have been doing some serious damage with team members Darren winning again using cold-water formula EFG 130 and Krilled maggots.
A top tip from Jamie Masson really helped Mark Poppleton have a convincing win with over 100lbs against a top Welsh angler in a bait test match at Cefn Mably lakes.
The bait was an expander pellet pumped with SFA 410 at 25% krill to 75% water.
New field tester Boz Phillips had a great win at Makins using Krilled maggots on a straight lead loose feeding the same, it was a tough day but Boz won with 38lbs, second place was 22lbs.
It’s not all big matches though - Leicestershire field-test angler Simon Dorsett who fishes for Stadon AC has won 4 out of his last 5 matches – and in most he has doubled the second man. Most wins have come on paste AFP 310. The lesson to remember is not to ignore Marukyu paste even in the winter.
Anglers Mail columnist Colin Davidson has been having some fantastic results with big carp and the liquid krill in the feed he said SFA 410 drives then wild.
Our very own Pro Team Member Tim Hodges has been catching dozens of substantial carp this last two weeks, popped up Ichigo boilies have been doing the damage fished in conjunction with a stick mix contain EFG 142.
Even the web forum sceptics have been catching, one report said that Mr No Name had won using bait that cannot be mentioned. He had trebled second place.
Scottish International angler Brian Clarke has reported some amazing bream catches when everyone around can only catch skimmers. This is now happening all to often and Brian swears by EFG 131.
In form ace Chris Downs continued his winning ways taking coin at Curborough, Tunnel Barn, and Mallory Park. EFG 130 with Krilled maggots topped a convincing win with 66lbs at Mallory.
Ton up Gordon Parker kept true to his name with an 116lbs win at Mallory using Krilled Bread. Top tip put some SFA 400 in your liquidised bread.
Rob Bowser likes his 1mm Nori pellets and these helped him to a lake win with 46lbs in the Mallory Winter League.
The results go on and on, so I am trying to mention a few new names each week.
Anglers are beginning to understand the science behind Marukyu baits and a new brochure will be launched at The Big One March March 12.
Come along and meet the Pro Team and learn all about the Marukyu Science.
There is no question Marukyu baits will outperform competitor’s baits and with the low water temperatures at this time of the year EFG 130 with Nori and both Krill products SFA 400 and SFA 410 will give you some extra fish.

DO WE HAVE A ROACH GROUNDBAIT?
Yes two matches that I know to were won with Roach using EFG 130, John Hall decimated his match with an all roach catch.

Frozen Lakes but Marukyu baits keep catching
PDF Print E-mail
Jamie MassonWith possibly thousands of anglers not going fishing because of the severe weather I have less to report this week.
However, several Team Marukyu anglers did fish and outstanding results were still on the cards.
I have repeatedly said that science is the key to success and again Marukyu cold-water products did the business.
Krilled maggots again were king in these harsh conditions, but ever wondered why?
As water becomes colder it becomes denser and that is why you need something that still attracts in extremely low water temperatures. It makes sense to use bait derived from something that lives in extremely cold water. Answer Marukyu Krill SFA 400.
Think about it, does your Halibut pellets work well in the cold water? Hundreds of anglers frequently tell me they don't, ever wondered why? Simple, oil molecules are big and not water-soluble at low temperatures.
Marukyu scientists know this and that's why North Pacific cold-water krill processed Krill works.
You will have read that Jamie Masson has joined the team.
Jamie has used Marukyu baits since last April and alongside his travelling mate Andy Kinder has enjoyed an incredible season.
The Maver Pairs championship was just one major event they won with Marukyu baits.
Just last week in artic conditions Jamie did a feature for Improve Your Coarse Fishing somewhere up north on a frozen lake.
The ice was so thick a powerboat was needed to break it.
Without doubt Jamie Masson is a thinking angler and use Marukyu science to his advantage. Only fishery pellets were allowed so he pumped them with liquid krill concentrate SFA 410 and subsequently caught more than 30lbs of quality fish in a couple of hours. The devastating additive was used at 25% liquid krill 75% water.
Glen Greasley who owns Barnsley Bait Centre has had some great results with Marukyu Baits winning several events in the last few weeks, the shop stocks all of Marukyu baits, always worth a ring for advice.

Action from around the country

Several more 100lb plus weights from Team Marukyu squad members to report.
The science in Marukyu baits is playing a major part towards exceptional catches now the water temperature has dropped dramatically.
This is just a snapshot from around the country.
Dean Townsend had 197lbs in the Alders Winter league last week.
Norfolk’s Lee Pullen won easily the Open Match at Burgh Apton with 62lbs.
Team Marukyu anglers, with the in form John Hall winning his lake again, dominated the Mallory Winter League. John has now weighed in 505lbs lbs his last 5 matches at the Glebe.
Young Jarrad Smith was top weight on the day in freezing conditions with 98lbs.
Roy Marlow took 88lbs for another lake win and Gordon Parker bounced back with a great section win from a tough section with 48lbs.
The key here is that every angler used SFA 400 among other Marukyu baits again proving how effective this additive is in cold-water conditions.
Last week I said I would let you into another secret on how to use Marukyu baits.
At this time of the year liquidised bread in the feeder can be very effective especially as the water becomes clearer. Try adding some SFA 400 to your liquidised bread, the difference is dramatic. Marukyu team member Kev Russell has been sneaking out some big fish from hard sections using this bait.
Every week I receive reports from ordinary anglers having superb catches with Marukyu baits, so don't be a sceptic, try them yourself.

Top Tip
We are now into some severe early cold weather, this means that the fish shoal very tightly and location is paramount.
Low feed baits are the order of the day and fishing straight the straight lead can take some big catches. To give you the edge flavour whatever bait you are using with a Marukyu additive such as SFA410 liquid krill concentrate, or SFA 400 powdered krill.
I have been in the bait business most of my life, I firmly believe most additives catch anglers not fish. Marukyu additives have proven science behind them.
And don’t forget – wrap up well! We want you to catch fish not a cold!

Cold weather fails to dampen performance
PDF Print E-mail
A few hard frosts failed to slow some great catches from Team Marukyu members around the country.
Top weight this week came from Chris Allen fishing the Mallory Winter League at The Glebe. A weight of 171 lbs on punched bread on a tiny feeder with EFG 131 then a switch to the long pole and krilled maggot with EFG 131 again this time fed through a small pole pot.
Leicester’s John Hall had yet another 100 lbs plus weight from Glebe 1 on the feeder, slightly dampened 1mm protein pellets and krilled maggots on the hook caught him 145 lbs.
Several other section wins from the Team Marukyu squad, young Jarrad Smith won his section with 83 lbs on the feeder using 3mm protein pellets as feed and fishing a banded 6mm on the hook.
Further south Team Marukyu’s Nick Darne won at Alders Farm with 142 lbs on the pole feeding small balls of EFG131 and again krilled maggots as hook bait.
Down in the Fens Total Coarse Fishing magazine editor Kev Wilmot made no mistakes on Cedar Lake at Decoy winning comfortably with 70lbs, again krilled maggots did the trick.
With scores of other wins and excellent results plus some big fish catches the story is the same, quality baits backed by science consistently outperform cheaper baits.
I see anglers spend thousands of pounds on tackle and skimp on bait, it's a no brainier.
Make a date to see Team Marukyu members and myself at Robertson’s fishing tackle open day in Dagenham on Saturday December 4. We will be doing all the bait demonstrations and there will be some super bargains.
Krilled maggots are taking everywhere apart, you can read all about them in our Media section on our website, or in Anglers Mail Tuesday 23 November.
The Team Marukyu members have some more tricks up their sleeves; having the edge is important. Next week I will tell you about another devastating secret bait from Marukyu

Top Tip

Try feeding some SFA 400 Krill into some fresh live white maggots. Now the water has gone clearer these will be devastating effective.
